Hartsell Recreation Center

Cabarrus County Recreation Center Rating: ★★★★★ I visited this facility for the first time at 8:00 AM to get some work in with a teammate, and I was blown away before I even stepped onto the court. I was greeted by a wonderful lady named Francis. She welcomed me with genuine honor and dignity, immediately making me feel like I belonged there. I found out she has been serving this community for 22 years, and after talking with her for a moment, it’s easy to see why. She shared some of her own journey with me, offering the perspective that we should use our life’s challenges as a strength rather than a weakness. That message really resonated with me and set the tone for a great practice. The gym is beautiful and well-maintained—a perfect spot for those of us putting in the early morning grind—but it’s the staff like Francis who make this place special. Thank you, Cabarrus Rec, for having people of such high character representing your facility.

I'm very annoyed right now. I don't get to come to the center often to workout since business hours are during my work hours. I had a day off today so drove down to the gym (it's too cold to walk outdoors today). I left home without my purse so I didn't have my sign in card. The asian guy at the desk absolutely refused to sign me in with my license and continously refused to call anyone to see if they can approve me to sign in. He told me I'd have to pay $10-$12 for a new card even though mine was just at home. I live too far to go back home to get it and drive back to the gym. If he can look me up to make me pay for a new card then he can look me up to see I have a membership. This is absolutely ridiculous to make someone pay for a card when they have a card, but just not with them. If you're going to do this and refuse someone to come in then you need to have a digital card on the website for moments like this. Every time I come to this gym it's something. Changed schedules without notice, activities in the online brochure not happening for whatever reason, fitness gym closed for private sessions. It's ridiculous.

If you like basketball I guess its a decent place to throw a party. The conference room was large and had great space.
